The Indianapolis Public Library Board of Trustees announces newly elected officers for the year 2026 to guide strategic initiatives

Indianapolis, Indiana – The Indianapolis Public Library Board of Trustees has announced its leadership team for 2026 following its annual meeting on November 24. The board elected officers who will serve one-year terms from January 1 through December 31, 2026, guiding the library’s strategic direction and continuing its mission to serve the Indianapolis community.

Mr. Raymond J. Biederman was elected as President of the Board, bringing his experience and commitment to public service to the forefront. Dr. Khaula Murtadha was chosen as Vice President, while Dr. Lisa Riolo will serve as Secretary and Ms. Mary Rankin will assume the role of Treasurer. The board also includes trustees Dr. Luis A. Palacio, P.E., Dr. Patricia A. Payne, Dr. Eugene G. White, and Ms. Natissa S. Woodard, who collectively work to support the library’s programs and initiatives throughout the city.

The Indianapolis Public Library Board of Trustees plays a critical role in overseeing the governance and strategic planning of the library system. The election of officers marks the beginning of a new chapter for the library’s governance, with the leadership team poised to guide projects ranging from community engagement efforts to the continued expansion of library resources. Trustees will also work closely with library staff to identify emerging needs in the community and ensure that services remain accessible, innovative, and impactful.
