Storm relief supplies including tarps and totes are now available for Monroe County residents affected by the May 16 tornado

Monroe County, Indiana – Residents in Monroe County who were affected by the recent tornado on May 16 are now able to receive much-needed storm relief supplies, thanks to a local community effort led by Sherwood Oaks Christian Church.

A limited supply of tarps and totes is currently being distributed to storm survivors at the church, located at 2700 E. Rogers Road. These supplies are intended to help residents protect their homes and belongings while recovery and cleanup efforts continue.

Storm survivors can pick up the supplies on the following dates and times:

• Sunday, May 18 – Now until 5:00 PM
• Monday, May 19 – 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM
• Tuesday, May 20 – 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM

While supplies are limited, organizers are working to ensure that those in the greatest need receive assistance as quickly as possible.

In addition to distributing materials, the church is also accepting donations — but only of tarps and totes. Community members who wish to contribute can drop off their items at the church during the following donation hours:

• Sunday, May 18 – Now until 5:00 PM
• Monday, May 19 – 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM
• Tuesday, May 20 – 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM

“Storm survivors in need can pick up limited supplies of tarps and totes at the Sherwood Oaks Christian Church, 2700 E. Rogers Rd.,” the organizers stated.

This local relief initiative comes as Monroe County continues to recover from the severe weather event, which left many homes damaged and residents scrambling for shelter and protection. The donated tarps are especially useful for covering damaged roofs, while totes can help protect belongings from further exposure to the elements.

Those impacted are encouraged to collect supplies during the scheduled times, and community members able to contribute are urged to do so as soon as possible. Every tarp and tote makes a difference as the community works together to rebuild.
