Bloomington, Indiana – Nonprofit organizations in Monroe County are gearing up for a valuable networking opportunity as the Nonprofit Alliance of Monroe County hosts its annual Meet the Media event on Wednesday, February 12, at the Monroe County Public Library – Downtown. This free event, which is set to take place from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., will give local NGOs direct access to media experts, so demonstrating their ways of sharing their story with the community.

The conference is meant to assist nonprofit leaders in improving their messaging and understanding what news sources look when reporting local businesses. Participants will have the opportunity to highlight their mission, forthcoming projects, or most recent success story in a brief 60-second pitch. Local media representatives will be on hand to provide helpful criticism and discuss best ways to get nonprofit stories reported.
Apart from the organized presentations, attendees will have one-on-one talks and networking events, therefore providing additional opportunities to interact with reporters and journalists. The aim is to create closer relationships between the media and the nonprofit sector so that significant community activity gets the exposure it deserves.
