Indianapolis, Indiana – The spirit of John Lennon’s legacy will roll into Central Indiana as the John Lennon Educational Tour Bus makes a special stop at the University of Indianapolis on Wednesday, May 7. From 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., the public is invited to explore the bus and get a first-hand look at cutting-edge music and video production tools — completely free of charge. The event will be held outside the Schwitzer Student Center, and no reservations or tickets are required to attend.
The John Lennon Educational Tour Bus is a nonprofit mobile production studio created to inspire students and communities through music, art, and digital media. The project, co-founded by Yoko Ono Lennon and executive director Brian Rothschild, has been touring schools, colleges, and communities across the United States since its debut in 1998. Over the years, it has provided thousands of young people with access to professional-grade audio and video recording tools. A European version of the bus also exists, continuing the mission overseas.
Now, with a fully revamped interior featuring the latest recording and production technology, the tour bus is bringing that mission to UIndy. Visitors can expect to learn about the inner workings of music and video production, see demonstrations of high-end studio equipment, and even get hands-on with the gear. From beat-making to green screen video shoots, the experience promises to spark creativity in students, aspiring musicians, and curious community members alike.
The event is co-hosted by the university’s Music Technology and Recording program and the Public Relations master’s program. Both programs are known for encouraging creative exploration, making this partnership a natural fit.
“The John Lennon Educational Tour Bus project focuses on inspiring creativity and artistic expression,” organizers said. And this visit to UIndy is no exception.
In addition to the interactive elements on board, guests will have the chance to ask questions, meet staff, and explore how digital media and music production come together to tell stories and build careers. Whether you’re a music student, a hobbyist, or someone simply interested in the power of creativity, the event offers something meaningful.
