University of Indianapolis expands access to student mental health services through new partnership with TimelyCare

Indianapolis, Indiana – The University of Indianapolis is stepping up its efforts to address student mental health, announcing a new partnership that will give students 24/7 access to care no matter where they are. Beginning this fall, UIndy students will be able to connect with TimelyCare, a leading virtual health and well-being provider in higher education, for around-the-clock support at no cost.

The decision reflects a growing recognition among colleges and universities that mental health is central to student success. With academic pressures, personal challenges, and the lasting impact of the pandemic on well-being, students are increasingly seeking services that fit their schedules and lifestyles. By teaming up with TimelyCare, UIndy is expanding its reach well beyond the campus counseling center.

Through the platform, students can choose from a variety of options tailored to meet different needs. These include TalkNow, an on-demand mental health and emotional support service, as well as access to licensed counselors across all 50 states. Care navigation, peer support, digital self-care resources, and even faculty and staff consultations are also part of the package. Importantly, students do not need insurance, removing a common barrier that prevents many from seeking help.

“We are beyond excited to bring this additional mental health resource to our campus,” said Dr. Kelly Miller, director of the UIndy Student Counseling Center. “Developing our campus partnership with TimelyCare services has been a major initiative in our efforts to expand mental health services across campus and will enable students to receive support 365 days a year, regardless of whether they are on campus or in another state. This is especially valuable for students when they are on semester or summer breaks, traveling out of the state, or are in our online programs from anywhere in the country. The University and Student Counseling Center are dedicated to prioritizing the mental health and wellness of all of our students, and this partnership with TimelyCare is a testament to the shared commitment we have to equipping students for success here at UIndy anytime, anywhere, and for life.”

The announcement also comes at a time when universities are increasingly expected to provide comprehensive wellness programs, not just emergency care. National surveys show rising levels of stress, anxiety, and depression among college students. UIndy’s leaders say the addition of TimelyCare demonstrates their commitment to offering proactive and preventive care, not just responding when a crisis hits.

TimelyCare officials echoed that message. “TimelyCare is honored to partner with the University of Indianapolis’s incredible team to address the growing need for accessible, high-quality mental health support,” said Luke Hejl, CEO and co-founder of TimelyCare. “By combining our team-based approach with the expertise of campus professionals, we can provide the unique care that campus communities need to thrive– academically, emotionally, and personally. Together, we are creating a brighter, healthier future for students and educators, while fostering environments where well-being is a foundation for success.”

These services will not replace UIndy’s existing counseling resources but will instead enhance them. The Student Counseling Center will continue to offer confidential one-on-one sessions, crisis appointments, group therapy, workshops, and outreach programs, ensuring students have multiple avenues of support. For some, the traditional face-to-face model will remain essential; for others, the convenience of logging on to a platform like TimelyCare could be life-changing.

Students can begin early registration for TimelyCare on Monday, August 18. Full access to the platform begins the following week, when classes officially start on Monday, August 25.

By introducing this new layer of support, UIndy is sending a clear message: student well-being is not just an add-on but a core part of the university experience. Whether students are on campus, traveling, or studying online, help will be just a click away.
