The Hawaiian Hoosier celebrates its first anniversary by launching a nationwide online ordering platform for snacks and island inspired treats

Bloomington, Indiana – A year ago, Ellettsville welcomed a colorful new spot serving island-inspired flavors with a Midwestern twist. Today, that small-town snack shack, known as The Hawaiian Hoosier, is celebrating its first anniversary with a big leap forward: the launch of a new website that brings its signature creations to customers across the country.

The site, www.hawaiian-hoosier.com, is more than just an ordering platform. It opens the door for customers to enjoy both local convenience and nationwide delivery. Hoosiers can continue to pick up or order their favorite meals and snacks around town, while fans beyond Indiana can now have the shop’s best-selling mixes shipped directly to their doors. Popular favorites such as Aloha Mix, Mahalo Mix, and Furu Critter Crunch are among the first to be available for nationwide shipping.

Founder Stacie Marotta said the timing of the expansion carries symbolic weight. “This is more than just an anniversary for us,” she explained. “It’s a milestone for Ellettsville. By growing into national distribution, we’re not only sharing our snacks with customers across the country — we’re also creating new jobs here at home and helping put Ellettsville on the map as a hub for creative & inspired snacks.”

The business plans to expand its online catalog over the next two months, adding even more options that capture its playful approach to food. The lineup will soon include freeze-dried fruits and candies as well as 17 varieties of savory, island-inspired popcorn. For loyal customers, that means new flavors to try; for new fans, it is a chance to discover how Hawaiian flair blends seamlessly with Hoosier hospitality.

Since opening in August 2024, The Hawaiian Hoosier has grown from a quirky neighborhood shop into a destination spot. Locals come for hot meals and snacks, while travelers passing through the Midwest often make it a point to stop by. The anniversary marks not only survival in a competitive food market but also proof that a unique concept rooted in community spirit can flourish.

By investing in an e-commerce platform, Marotta and her team are betting on the power of reach. While Ellettsville remains the heart of the business, the ability to ship snacks coast-to-coast ensures that their brand of “aloha spirit” can resonate far beyond Indiana. And as online orders roll in, the business will create new opportunities at home—whether through jobs, collaborations with local suppliers, or simply boosting the visibility of Ellettsville as a small town with big ideas.

For many in the community, the shop’s success feels personal. The Hawaiian Hoosier has become a place to gather, celebrate, and taste something different. Now, as it turns one year old, its story expands beyond town borders, inviting customers nationwide to share in the experience—one sweet, salty, or crunchy bite at a time.
