The 2025 IPS Parent Engagement Conference will empower caregivers with essential tools for advocating for their children

Indianapolis, Indiana – Indianapolis Public Schools (IPS) is gearing up for an exciting event that will bring together caregivers, school leaders, and experts in the field of education. The 2025 IPS Parent Engagement Conference, set for Friday, July 18, promises to be an invaluable opportunity for parents and guardians looking to gain the tools and knowledge they need to better support their children’s education. Hosted at Butler University’s South Campus, this family-focused, free event is aimed at empowering caregivers to advocate for their children and navigate the complexities of the education system.

Running from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., the conference offers a packed schedule filled with informative sessions and practical advice. “We want to make sure our caregivers feel supported, knowledgeable, and confident in their ability to help their children succeed,” said a spokesperson for IPS. The event is designed to provide hands-on learning opportunities, with expert-led breakout sessions on key topics like student attendance, behavior strategies, mental health, and special education rights.

One of the major highlights of the event is the chance for attendees to connect directly with IPS leaders. This allows caregivers to ask questions, share feedback, and learn more about the district’s efforts to improve education. Whether it’s gaining insight into student attendance issues, understanding the rights of parents in the special education process, or exploring strategies for supporting mental health at home, this conference covers it all.

The breakout sessions are tailored to provide practical tools that caregivers can immediately apply in their own lives. “We know that every family has different needs, and our goal is to offer something for everyone,” said the IPS representative. The topics will help caregivers feel more empowered to create a positive learning environment for their children both at school and at home.

Along with the educational sessions, the conference also offers a supportive and inclusive environment for families. Free on-site child care will be provided, making it easier for caregivers to attend without worrying about the logistics of childcare. Additionally, all attendees will enjoy a complimentary boxed lunch, further contributing to the welcoming atmosphere of the event.

As an added bonus, the conference will conclude with a Q&A session over lunch. This final segment gives caregivers the opportunity to share their experiences, ask questions, and provide direct feedback to IPS leadership. It’s a chance for the school district to better understand the needs of the community and ensure they’re meeting the needs of all families.

The conference isn’t just an event to attend – it’s a chance for caregivers to actively participate in shaping the future of IPS. By attending, families will be able to influence how the district designs and implements its supports and services. It’s an excellent opportunity to build stronger connections between home and school, and to create a positive impact on the educational experiences of children throughout Indianapolis.

Space for the event is limited, so caregivers are encouraged to RSVP as soon as possible. Securing your spot ensures access to both the conference sessions and the on-site child care services.
