Newly released employee policies handbook helps Indiana employers stay updated on workplace regulations

Indianapolis, Indiana – Keeping up with evolving workplace regulations is a constant challenge for businesses, but the Indiana Chamber is making it easier with the release of the eighth edition of Model Employee Policies for Indiana Employers. Designed to help companies navigate changing laws and best practices, this handbook serves as a comprehensive guide for human resources professionals and business leaders across the state.

The latest edition, authored by attorneys at Bose McKinney & Evans LLP, provides a user-friendly resource covering a wide range of workplace policies tailored specifically for Hoosier employers. It aims to help businesses establish clear, legally sound policies while promoting a positive workplace culture.

“This new guide is designed to help employers understand the legal implications of an organization’s written policies and procedures, the costs and benefits of placing informal practices in an employee handbook and how to communicate an organization’s values and goals,” said Vanessa Green Sinders, Indiana Chamber president and CEO. “It’s been a go-to resource for human resources professionals since its inception and we’re excited for this updated edition.”

Covering Key Workplace Topics

The newly released handbook includes policy updates that reflect recent trends and regulatory changes. Among the notable additions are policies on artificial intelligence and self-managed paid time off (PTO), reflecting the growing influence of technology and shifting approaches to employee benefits.

In addition to these new topics, the handbook continues to address fundamental workplace policies, including:

• Attendance and time away from work
• Employee benefits
• Company integrity and ethics
• Compensation policies
• Hiring, promotions, and terminations
• Safety and health regulations
• Non-discrimination policies
• Monitoring and use of electronic technology in the workplace

By providing clear guidelines on these matters, the handbook helps employers ensure compliance while fostering a fair and transparent work environment.

A Practical Resource for HR Professionals

One of the key benefits of the Model Employee Policies for Indiana Employers handbook is its ease of use. Employers who purchase the book will receive access to downloadable, editable Word documents, allowing them to customize policies to fit their organization’s specific needs. Additionally, the authors have committed to keeping the policies updated throughout 2025 as federal regulations evolve.

For Indiana Chamber members, the handbook is available for $81.75, while non-members can purchase it for $109. An electronic publication (ePub) version is also available for $79. Employers can order their copy through the Indiana Chamber’s website at www.indianachamber.com/publications.

As businesses continue to adapt to changes in workplace laws and expectations, resources like this handbook play a vital role in helping employers maintain compliance and create strong, well-defined policies that support both employees and the organization as a whole.
