Marion students’ visual and performing arts take center stage at the all-city art show this weekend

Marion, Indiana – The All-City Art Show at Marion Community Schools is set to take center stage this weekend, celebrating the incredible talent of students from all grade levels. Scheduled for Friday, May 16, from 4 to 6 p.m. and Saturday, May 17, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., this event is a must-see for anyone who appreciates the arts. The show, which features visual and performing arts, provides a unique opportunity for the public to experience the creativity and hard work of Marion students.

Held at the Walton Performing Arts Center, visitors will be able to explore various art displays as they move through the building. The show will begin at the entrance, where some of the artwork will be displayed, and will continue through the art hallway, showcasing even more incredible pieces. The All-City Art Show is an exciting event for the community, as it highlights the artistic achievements of students from across the district.

In addition to the visual art displays, the event will feature interactive art experiences on both days, allowing attendees to engage directly with the creative process. As part of the celebrations, art awards will be presented on Saturday, May 17, at 1 p.m., recognizing outstanding student work. These awards offer a special opportunity to honor the talent and dedication of Marion students in the arts.

For those who love live performances, Saturday’s event will feature a full schedule of music and dance performances. Throughout the day, Marion Community Schools music ensembles will take the stage in the Little Theatre, showcasing the best of the district’s musical talent. The performances will begin at 11 a.m. with the Justice Intermediate School sixth-grade band and continue throughout the day with various other ensembles, including the McCulloch Junior High jazz band, Marion High School varsity choir, and several choir and dance groups.

Some of the standout performances include the MJH Honor Choir at 3:15 p.m. and the MHS bands concert, which will take place at 5:30 p.m. on the Walton mainstage. These performances offer an opportunity to hear the voices and instruments of Marion’s talented young musicians, providing a fitting conclusion to the day’s festivities.

The All-City Art Show is part of an exciting week of arts programming at Marion Community Schools, with numerous events leading up to the show. The fun kicked off with Peter and the Starcatcher, a production by the CSA Theatre compANY that ran from May 9 to 11. The show featured over a dozen Marion students in leading and supporting roles. Throughout the week, there have also been several choir and band concerts, including performances from McCulloch Junior High’s 7th and 8th grade choirs and the MJH band. These concerts, culminating with the Marion High School choir concert on May 15, have showcased the hard work and dedication of the district’s young musicians.
