Indianapolis, Indiana – Grammy-nominated country music trio Midland is set to headline this year’s Firestone Legends Day Concert, a highly anticipated event that will take place on Saturday, May 24, 2025, at the Everwise Amphitheater at White River State Park in downtown Indianapolis. This concert marks the beginning of the official festivities leading up to the 109th Indianapolis 500, one of the most iconic motorsport events in the world.

As a part of the celebration for “The Greatest Spectacle in Racing,” the Firestone Legends Day Concert will bring energy and excitement to the city the night before race day. Midland’s performance will serve as a highlight of the festivities, providing fans with an unforgettable night of country music as they gear up for race day the following morning.

J. Douglas Boles, the President of INDYCAR and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway (IMS), expressed his enthusiasm for the event, stating, “On the final day before the Indy 500, the countdown to the green flag is full of unmatched energy and excitement. While fans enjoy the honky-tonk sounds of Midland at the Firestone Legends Day Concert at a fantastic venue in downtown Indianapolis, IMS will be ready to welcome more than 350,000 fans at 6 a.m. the following morning.”

The concert will take place in the heart of Indianapolis, where fans can enjoy the incredible sounds of Midland while also soaking in the atmosphere of Legends Day activities. The concert itself will be an integral part of the day’s festivities, which also include the 109th Indianapolis 500 Public Drivers’ Meeting and autograph sessions at IMS. Midland, a band known for its blend of traditional country and modern influences, has garnered widespread attention over the years for its rich harmonies and nostalgic sound. The band came together through a shared love for classic country music, drawn together at a friend’s wedding by their mutual desire to bring back the sound of post-Urban Cowboy country. The group’s early success was fueled by their breakout hit, the now five-time platinum track “Drinkin’ Problem,” which set the stage for their critically acclaimed album “On the Rocks” and their debut at No. 1 on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart with “Let It Roll.”

The trio—consisting of lead singer Mark Wystrach, bassist Cameron Duddy, and lead guitarist Jess Carson—have built a dedicated fanbase through sold-out performances, including at the Houston Rodeo and Livestock Show, multi-night stands at the iconic Billy Bob’s in Fort Worth, and even a one-night-only reunion at the legendary Palomino Club in North Hollywood.

Since their rise to fame, Midland has continued to impress with their distinctive retro-Nuevo style, combining thick harmonies, poignant lyrics, and steel guitar to create a sound that resonates deeply with classic country music fans. Their most recent album, “The Last Resort: Greetings From,” has cemented their place as one of country music’s most exciting acts. In September 2024, the band released their fourth studio album, “Barely Blue,” which was met with critical acclaim and further solidified their reputation as a major force in the country music scene.

Firestone, the presenting sponsor of the Legends Day event since its inception in 2014, has helped merge two key aspects of Indianapolis’ cultural identity—racing and country music. Firestone’s partnership with the Indianapolis 500, combined with their support of the Legends Day Concert, provides a unique opportunity to bring fans together to celebrate both the rich history of motorsport and the timeless appeal of country music.

For those planning to attend the 109th Indianapolis 500 by Gainbridge, which will take place the following day on Sunday, May 25, race day tickets are currently on sale. Tickets can be purchased through IMS.com, or by calling or visiting the IMS Ticket Office. General admission tickets for Legends Day, presented by Firestone, start at $20. However, it is important to note that these general admission tickets do not include access to the concert itself, which requires a separate ticket.

This year’s Firestone Legends Day Concert will undoubtedly add to the tradition and excitement of the Indianapolis 500, with Midland providing the soundtrack for what is sure to be a thrilling weekend in Indianapolis. Whether you are a diehard racing fan or a lover of country music, this event offers something for everyone, making it the perfect prelude to one of the most exciting days in motorsports. Don’t miss the chance to celebrate both racing and music with Midland at the Firestone Legends Day Concert this May!
