Families can now register their children for MCCSC summer programs offering free and low-cost options

Monroe County, Indiana – Families across Monroe County can now start planning for a summer full of learning, exploration, and fun, as the Monroe County Community School Corporation (MCCSC) officially opens enrollment for its wide range of 2024 summer programs. With offerings for students in Pre-K through high school, the district’s programs are designed to support academic growth, skill-building, and enrichment during the summer months.

Thanks to strong community support for the 2023 MCCSC Referendum, many families, particularly those with 4-year-old Pre-K students, will be eligible for free or significantly reduced tuition to attend programs such as the beloved “Little Explorers” EdVenture Camp.

Summer Opportunities for Every Age

From virtual learning to hands-on science experiences, this year’s summer programming offers something for everyone. Students in grades K-8 can take part in the Virtual Camp, running from June 2 through June 26, which helps strengthen math and reading skills using digital learning tools like Study Island, Math Seeds, and Reading Eggs. Schools will share sign-up details through Parent Square, ensuring families stay informed.

Meanwhile, EdVenture Camp, returning from June 2 through July 24, brings an exciting mix of science-themed sessions and fun activities to students entering Pre-K through 8th grade. The “Little Explorers” program, tailored specifically for Pre-K and Kindergarten students, includes engaging activities such as arts and crafts, story time, water play, and music sessions. Scholarships are available for qualifying families—especially those who received Free or Reduced meals during the 2024–2025 school year, or whose Pre-K income falls below 225% of the federal poverty level.

Specialized Programs for High School Students

For high schoolers needing to recover credits, MCCSC is offering High School Summer Classes from June 2 to July 10, with classes hosted at Bloomington High School South. These courses are available online, and many include direct teacher instruction, ensuring students get the support they need to stay on track toward graduation.

Students in grades 10-12 at Bloomington High School North and South can also apply for the Computer Technology Support Course (CRAM), offered from June 2 to June 26. This program prepares students to provide laptop tech support to their peers during the academic year—a great opportunity to develop in-demand technology and communication skills. Applications will be distributed by the schools and are required for enrollment.

Additionally, the Supervised Agricultural Experience, open to students in grades 10-12, gives participants a chance to gain real-world experience in agriculture between June 2 and July 10. Whether students are interested in farming, plant science, or environmental conservation, this hands-on learning opportunity is an ideal way to explore future careers in the agricultural sector.

Affordable Access for All Families

The district is focused on equity and access, and this summer’s offerings reflect that commitment. “Little Explorers” is free for qualifying Pre-K students, and scholarships for older students are also available. These expanded opportunities have been made possible through the 2023 voter-approved referendum, which boosted funding for early learning programs.

Families can reach out to their school counselors for help registering for high school-level courses or visit MCCSC’s official summer site for more information about each program and eligibility requirements: https://mccsc.edu/summer.

Whether your child is ready to explore science through water play, catch up on high school credits, build reading fluency online, or dive into agricultural fieldwork, MCCSC has designed a summer packed with chances to learn and grow.

Now is the time to sign up and secure a spot—summer learning starts soon!
