Bloomington, Indiana – A few hours at Bloomington City Hall could help shape months of community work across the city. Local nonprofits and civic groups now have a chance to claim a spot at an event designed to turn public interest into hands-on service.
Registration has opened for the City of Bloomington Volunteer Network’s annual Volunteer Fair, where organizations can meet residents searching for meaningful ways to contribute their time, skills and energy.
The free event will run from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 5, inside Bloomington City Hall at 401 N. Morton St. and outside on Fernandez Plaza. It will take place alongside the Saturday Bloomington Community Farmers’ Market, giving participating groups access to a busy downtown crowd.
Organizations may register through the city’s online sign-up form. Applications will be accepted through Aug. 15, 2026, unless every available space is reserved before the deadline. There is no registration fee, but capacity is limited.
Each year, the fair gathers dozens of volunteer-powered organizations under one roof and across the plaza. Their work reaches nearly every part of Bloomington life, including education, health, environmental protection, arts and culture, human services, neighborhood programs and civic engagement.
For community groups, the event offers more than a place to distribute brochures. Representatives can speak directly with potential volunteers, explain their missions and discuss specific roles that need support. That face-to-face connection can help residents find opportunities that match their schedules, interests and experience.
