Man fatally shot on west side of Indianapolis as police investigate circumstances surrounding the killing

Indianapolis, Indiana – A man was shot and killed Saturday evening on the west side of Indianapolis, police confirmed, marking another violent incident in the city. The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) said officers responded to a call just before 5:15 p.m. on St. Thomas Lane, near the intersection of I-465 and Hyannis Port Drive, where they discovered a man suffering from gunshot wounds.

The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition, but authorities reported that he later died from his injuries. At this time, police have not released the man’s identity, and no information about potential suspects or a motive has been made public. Investigators are continuing to gather evidence at the scene and are asking anyone with information to come forward.

“Anyone with information about the shooting is urged to contact the IMPD Homicide Office at 317-327-3475,” the department said in a statement. “You can also reach out to Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana at 317-262-8477.”
