$50,000 Powerball ticket purchased in Indianapolis last August set to expire on January 29

Indianapolis, Indiana – A $50,000 Powerball® ticket purchased in Indianapolis last August is nearing its expiration date, giving the holder just days to claim the prize before it becomes void. The Hoosier Lottery is reminding players to check their tickets carefully as Thursday, January 29, marks the deadline for claiming the winnings.

The ticket in question matched four white balls and the Powerball during the drawing on August 2, 2025. It was purchased at Crown Liquors #604, located at 2101 N. Post Rd. in Indianapolis. Players who hold the ticket have until 4:30 p.m. Eastern Time on January 29 to claim the prize at the Hoosier Lottery Prize Payment office at 1302 N. Meridian St., also in Indianapolis. The lottery emphasizes that all Draw game prizes must be claimed within 180 days of the drawing, making this deadline final.

The winning numbers for the August 2 Powerball drawing were 6, 18, 34, 35, 36, with a Powerball of 2. Hoosier Lottery officials urge anyone who purchased a ticket for that drawing to double-check their numbers immediately. With only a few days left, time is running out for the lucky ticket holder to claim the $50,000 prize.

Players are encouraged to take precautions when preparing to claim large prizes. Lottery officials recommend keeping the ticket in a safe place, considering a consultation with a financial advisor, and contacting Hoosier Lottery customer service at 1-800-955-6886 for detailed instructions on claiming the prize. “It is important for the ticket holder to ensure their ticket is in a secure place,” the lottery said in a statement, emphasizing the importance of acting before the deadline.

Powerball® tickets carry an overall odds of 1 in 25 of winning a prize, meaning smaller prizes such as this $50,000 award are relatively rare and valuable. Lottery officials warn that any unclaimed winnings will be forfeited after January 29, and the prize will not be reassigned. This creates a sense of urgency for anyone who may have overlooked the ticket or forgotten to check it since the August drawing.

The Hoosier Lottery urges residents to act quickly, reminding players that prizes must be claimed in person at the designated Indianapolis office. With the January 29 deadline approaching, local authorities and lottery officials are encouraging the public to double-check any tickets purchased in early August to ensure they do not miss out on a significant payout.

For many, this is a chance to claim a life-changing amount of money, and lottery officials stress that no extensions will be granted. As the countdown continues, Indianapolis residents are reminded to search through old tickets, verify their numbers, and make arrangements to claim the $50,000 prize before the opportunity expires.

This pending expiration has renewed interest among local Powerball players, and Hoosier Lottery officials are emphasizing that every ticket should be checked carefully. Those holding tickets matching the winning numbers are urged not to delay, as the clock is ticking toward the January 29 cutoff.
