The Indianapolis Public Library earns prestigious AchieveWELL 4 Star designation from the Wellness Council of Indiana

Indianapolis, Indian – The Indianapolis Public Library has earned a significant honor for its commitment to employee well-being, receiving the 4-Star AchieveWELL designation from the Wellness Council of Indiana. This recognition places the library among a select group of organizations in the state that have demonstrated excellence in promoting workplace health and fostering a culture of wellness for employees.

The AchieveWELL program, developed by the Wellness Council of Indiana, guides employers in creating and sustaining a corporate environment that supports healthy lifestyles. It provides a clear framework for organizations to build effective workplace wellness initiatives, with a focus on long-term cultural change rather than short-term programs. The Indianapolis Public Library’s achievement signals that its efforts are making a measurable impact on both workplace policies and the overall work environment.

AchieveWELL’s structure is based on three ascending tiers: 3-Star, 4-Star, and 5-Star. Each level requires meeting rigorous standards that evaluate an organization’s wellness strategies, implementation, and outcomes. Achieving the 4-Star level means that The Indianapolis Public Library has gone beyond foundational efforts and is integrating health and wellness principles deeply into its organizational culture.

The library will be formally recognized for this accomplishment at the 2025 Indiana Wellness Summit, scheduled for September 11 at Embassy Suites by Hilton in Noblesville. The event will bring together leaders from across the state to celebrate achievements in workplace wellness and share best practices.

“We are proud to receive the 4-Star AchieveWELL designation, which reflects our commitment to being a workplace of choice and fostering a workplace culture where the health and well-being of our employees is a priority,” said Gregory A. Hill, Sr., MLS, MSM, CEO of The Indianapolis Public Library. “We retain and develop talented staff and volunteers who are dedicated to providing exceptional service. When we invest in our team, we strengthen not only our organization but also the service we provide to our community.”

For The Indianapolis Public Library, this recognition is the result of deliberate and sustained efforts to make employee wellness part of its identity. From developing supportive policies to creating an environment where staff members feel valued and encouraged to maintain healthy lifestyles, the library has worked to ensure that wellness is not an afterthought but a core value.

The Wellness Council of Indiana, a subsidiary of the Indiana Chamber of Commerce, created AchieveWELL as a resource for employers seeking to improve health outcomes for their teams. By helping organizations adopt evidence-based practices, the program aims to make wellness a permanent and beneficial part of everyday work life.

As the library celebrates its 4-Star designation, it also continues its mission of serving the Indianapolis community through its network of branches and dedicated staff. By prioritizing employee health, the library believes it can enhance the quality of service it provides, creating a ripple effect that benefits not just staff members, but the thousands of patrons who rely on its resources and programs every year.
