Indianapolis, Indiana – A $50,000 Powerball® ticket sold in Indianapolis is approaching its expiration date, and Hoosier Lottery officials are urging the holder to claim the prize before it’s too late. The winning ticket, purchased in August, must be redeemed by Thursday, February 26, or the prize will be forfeited.

The ticket, which matched four white balls and the Powerball, was purchased at Indy Mart, located at 3005 E. 10th St., for the August 30, 2025, drawing. The winning numbers from that drawing were 3-18-22-27-33 with a Powerball of 17.

Hoosier Lottery rules require that all Draw game prizes, including Powerball winnings, be claimed within 180 days of the drawing. To secure the prize, the ticket holder must present the ticket at the Hoosier Lottery Prize Payment office at 1302 N. Meridian St. in Indianapolis no later than 4:30 p.m. ET on Feb. 26.

Lottery officials are reminding the winner to take precautions when claiming such a significant prize. “The winning ticket holder should ensure their ticket is in a secure place, consider meeting with a financial advisor and contact Hoosier Lottery customer service at 1-800-955-6886 for specific claim instructions,” the lottery stated.

Winning a large Powerball prize can be life-changing, but experts emphasize the importance of careful planning. Holding onto the ticket in a safe location and understanding the claiming process are key steps to ensure the prize is received without complication.

With only a few days remaining, the Hoosier Lottery encourages anyone who purchased a ticket for the August 30 drawing to double-check their numbers. The approaching deadline highlights the urgency for the winner to act quickly and claim their $50,000 prize before it expires.

Failing to claim the ticket on time would mean the funds are returned to the state lottery, a reminder of the strict timelines that govern all lottery winnings. For many, this is a rare opportunity, and officials hope the rightful winner comes forward before the February 26 cutoff.

Anyone with questions or needing guidance on the claims process can reach out to Hoosier Lottery customer service at 1-800-955-6886 to ensure all steps are properly followed.
