Indianapolis, Indiana – The Indianapolis-Marion County City-County Council has officially appointed Natissa S. Woodard to serve on the Indianapolis Public Library Board of Trustees, marking a new chapter in her extensive career of professional leadership and community service. Woodard’s appointment reflects her deep experience in strategic development, staff management, and her longstanding commitment to civic engagement. Her term on the Board will run through July 7, 2029.
Woodard currently works with Roche Diagnostics, a global healthcare company, where she serves as a global customer success manager. Over the years, she has held leadership roles across Fortune 500 companies, nonprofit organizations, and civic and social organizations, building a reputation for strategic thinking, problem-solving, and fostering collaborative teams.
Her academic foundation includes a Bachelor of Science degree from Indiana University in Bloomington, where she focused on secondary education with a specialization in literature. This background in education and literature provides Woodard with a unique perspective on the importance of knowledge, literacy, and community access to educational resources—values that align closely with the mission of the Indianapolis Public Library.
“It’s an honor to serve the Indianapolis Public Library in this new capacity,” said Woodard. “The Library is a vital pillar in our communities — a place of access, belonging, and lifelong learning. It provides knowledge, connection, and a safe, welcoming space for all. I’m excited to collaborate with Library leadership and the broader community to help drive meaningful, positive change that reflects the needs and voices of the people we serve.”
Beyond her professional achievements, Woodard is actively engaged in civic and community organizations. She participates in Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., the Emerging Pearls Foundation, and the National Coalition of 100 Black Women. In addition, she maintains a strong connection to her faith community through her involvement with Crossroads AME Church. Her commitment to both civic and cultural organizations highlights her dedication to serving and uplifting the Indianapolis community in multiple capacities.
In her new role as a Library Trustee, Woodard will help guide the direction of the Library system, ensuring that programs, services, and resources meet the evolving needs of the community. Trustees provide oversight, offer strategic guidance, and work closely with Library leadership to help sustain the institution’s role as a hub of knowledge and community engagement.
The Indianapolis Public Library serves as more than a repository of books and digital resources. It acts as a welcoming environment where individuals of all ages can access educational programs, cultural events, and safe spaces for learning and personal growth. With Woodard joining the Board, the Library gains a Trustee with experience in large-scale organizational leadership, a passion for literacy and education, and a strong connection to the community.
Library Board meetings are open to the public and are scheduled for the fourth Monday of each month at 6:30 p.m. Residents interested in attending meetings or learning more about the Library Board and its trustees can find schedules and additional information through the Library’s website.
As Woodard steps into this new role, she joins a team of Trustees dedicated to supporting the Library’s mission and expanding access to its many programs and services. Her appointment signals both continuity and a fresh perspective, emphasizing community connection, inclusive programming, and a commitment to lifelong learning for all Indianapolis residents.
