MCS musicians will bring holiday cheer to downtown Marion as they perform in the annual Christmas parade on November 22

Marion, Indiana – The sounds of the season will fill downtown Marion later this month as local student musicians help launch one of the city’s most cherished holiday traditions. The Marion High School marching band and the McCulloch Junior High School band will both perform in the annual Christmas City USA Parade, set to begin at 7 p.m. on Friday, November 22.

The parade is more than just a celebration — it marks the official start of the holiday season in Marion and the grand opening of the city’s famous Walkway of Lights. Every year, thousands of residents and visitors gather along the parade route to enjoy festive floats, twinkling lights, and, of course, the joyful sounds of local marching bands bringing the spirit of Christmas to life.

“Having our students perform in this parade is such a special experience,” said one school official. “It’s a chance for them to share their music with the community while being part of something that brings people together year after year.”

The excitement doesn’t stop with the evening parade. Starting at noon that same day, downtown Marion will transform into a holiday festival featuring local vendors, food stands, and family-friendly entertainment. The afternoon festivities will set the stage for the parade later in the evening, creating a full day of celebration for residents of all ages.
