Journey Indiana returns to WTIU this May with new episodes celebrating Indiana’s nature and history

Bloomington, Indiana – A beloved local travel show is making its return this spring. Journey Indiana, WTIU Public Television’s award-winning series that celebrates the culture, history, and beauty of the Hoosier state, is kicking off its seventh season on Thursday, May 22, at 8 p.m.

The new season begins with a tribute to Indiana’s natural landscapes, featuring visits to some of the state’s most stunning outdoor destinations. In the premiere episode, viewers will be taken on an adventure through the rolling hills of Brown County State Park, venture into the unique ecosystem of the Limberlost Swamp and State Historic Site, and explore the breathtaking depths of Wyandotte Cave. The episode also shines a light on Charles C. Deam, Indiana’s first state forester and a key figure in the conservation of the state’s plant life.

“Journey Indiana’s mission has always been to uncover the hidden gems and familiar favorites that make this state special,” said producers of the show. “Season 7 promises even more stories that connect viewers to the places and people that define Indiana.”

A week after the premiere, on Thursday, May 29, the show travels to Columbus, Indiana—a city well known for its innovative architecture and civic pride. This episode will take audiences on a tour of Columbus’s iconic buildings, tell the story of a local man who made a significant impact during the Civil War, visit the nostalgic Zaharakos’ soda fountain, and introduce a sculptor whose work stands out as one-of-a-kind.

Future episodes throughout the season will explore a wide range of topics and locations. The show will feature communities including Gary, Muncie, South Bend, and the counties of Parke and Orange. Viewers can also expect stories from Indianapolis’s vibrant cultural districts, as well as segments focused on Indiana’s mysteries, wild landscapes, roadside attractions, famous residents, and locally made products.

With each episode, Journey Indiana continues to blend educational storytelling with high-quality visuals to showcase the depth and diversity of the state.
