Indiana Music Educators Association recognizes UIndy College

Indianapolis, Indiana – Two distinguished faculty members from the University of Indianapolis (UIndy) College of Music have been recognized for their outstanding contributions to music education. Adjunct professors Diane Stebbe and Joyce Click were recently honored by the Indiana Music Educators Association (IMEA) for their dedication and impact on students and the broader music community.

Stebbe was awarded the Multi-level IMEA Music Educator of Excellence award, a prestigious recognition given to educators who have demonstrated excellence throughout their teaching careers. The award acknowledges her long-standing commitment to fostering a love for music in students across various levels of education.

“It was an unexpected honor to receive the Multi-level Music Educator of Excellence Award!” said Stebbe. “My enduring excitement about teaching is a result of keeping my performing skills active so that my performing life and teaching life can exist and each enhances the other.”

In addition to Stebbe’s recognition, Click was honored with the IMEA Community Impact Award, which highlights music educators who have gone above and beyond to support musicians and promote music education in their communities. Click has spent years shaping the musical journeys of countless students and remains a passionate advocate for music education.

“Music education has enriched my life and has changed the lives of students that I have taught,” Click said. “I am hoping that by receiving this award, I am setting an example for others; the pursuit of music education is a lifelong endeavor, and that music is an art form that bridges generations.”

Both faculty members have played vital roles in UIndy’s music program, bringing their expertise and passion for teaching to the university. Their dedication extends beyond the classroom, inspiring students and fellow educators alike.

The Indiana Music Educators Association is known for its commitment to advancing music education across the state, recognizing individuals who have made a significant impact in the field. The awards given to Stebbe and Click underscore their unwavering efforts to elevate music education and support aspiring musicians.
