Monroe County, Indiana – Four people were injured early Sunday morning after a house fire in Bloomington, Indiana, an incident that prompted a rapid emergency response and led to the arrest of a suspect, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.

Fire crews and deputies were dispatched to the 3800 block of East Anderson Road just before 3 a.m. on Jan. 18 after multiple 911 callers reported a possible house fire. When first responders arrived, they found an active fire at the residence and confirmed that several occupants had been hurt.

Authorities said four individuals suffered injuries during the incident. As of Sunday, officials had not released details about the severity or nature of those injuries, and the conditions of the victims remain unknown. Emergency medical personnel provided care at the scene before transporting the injured for further treatment.

As the situation unfolded, investigators determined the fire may not have been accidental. During the initial investigation, law enforcement identified a suspect connected to the incident. Police confirmed that the individual was taken into custody and transported to Eskanazi Hospital, where they were being treated for injuries related to the fire while under supervision from members of the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.

Officials have not released the suspect’s name or the charges they may face, citing the ongoing investigation. It is also unclear what led up to the fire or what role the suspect is believed to have played. Authorities said additional details will be provided as the case develops.

The scene remained active for several hours as fire crews worked to extinguish hot spots and investigators examined the property. The extent of damage to the home has not yet been made public, but the fire drew a significant emergency response from both fire and law enforcement agencies.

Residents in the area reported being awakened by emergency sirens and flashing lights as crews worked in the early morning darkness. The incident has left neighbors shaken, as the quiet residential area rarely sees such intense activity.
