Claim your spot as a chili chef in the 2026 Chilly Cook-Off and showcase your culinary skills to the Bloomington community

Bloomington, Indiana – If you believe your chili recipe stands out among Bloomington’s finest, now is the time to step up and prove it. The 2026 Chilly Cook-Off is returning to Switchyard Park Pavilion, giving local chefs the chance to showcase their culinary skills while supporting a worthy cause. The event will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 23, and promises a lively evening filled with great food, friendly competition, and community spirit.

Chefs of all experience levels are encouraged to participate, whether you’re a seasoned cook looking to impress a panel of judges or a home cook hoping to dazzle over 150 attendees. Participants will have the unique opportunity to present their favorite chili recipe to a crowd eager to taste the best Bloomington has to offer. “Chefs will share their chili and see if it has what it takes to impress our panel of judges or the over 150 attendees,” event organizers said, emphasizing the excitement of testing your skills against fellow culinary enthusiasts.

Beyond the thrill of competition, the Chilly Cook-Off offers chefs and teams an opportunity to build brand recognition, connect with others in the community, and showcase creativity in the kitchen. For local businesses or groups, it’s also a chance to strengthen team bonds in a fun and interactive environment. The event blends the serious business of cooking with a playful, community-focused atmosphere that draws both participants and spectators alike.

Proceeds from the event go to Mother Hubbard’s Cupboard, a local nonprofit organization dedicated to alleviating hunger in Bloomington. By joining as a chef or sponsor, participants directly support the community while sharing something they love. “A great opportunity to share your favorite recipe, build brand recognition, and bond with your team – all while raising funds for Mother Hubbard’s Cupboard,” organizers said, highlighting the dual purpose of fun and philanthropy.
