Indianapolis, Indiana – A tragic accident early Saturday morning on the southeast side of Indianapolis claimed the life of one man, police said.
Officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department responded to a crash on the 6200 block of South Arlington Avenue, near Edgewood Avenue, at approximately 5:45 a.m. on Feb. 14. When they arrived, authorities found a single vehicle had struck a tree, leaving the driver fatally injured.
Police confirmed that the driver, an adult male, was pronounced dead at the scene. Officials have not released his name pending notification of family members. The circumstances surrounding the crash are still under investigation.
Traffic in the area was impacted for several hours as investigators worked at the scene. The IMPD advised drivers to use alternate routes while the investigation was ongoing, noting that the roadway remained partially closed during the morning commute.
