Hoosiers get an inside look at the Indiana Governor’s Residence beautifully decorated for the holiday season

Indianapolis, Indiana – The Indiana Governor’s Residence is spreading holiday cheer this season with a warm, inviting display that showcases both tradition and personal touches from the Braun family. Through a collection of photos released to the public, Hoosiers can catch a glimpse of the festive decorations that transform the historic home into a cozy holiday retreat.

First Lady Maureen Braun took the lead in decorating the Residence, emphasizing a traditional Christmas style infused with meaningful family elements. Among the highlights is a beautifully adorned Christmas tree located in the front entryway, donated by Dull’s Tree Farm. The tree serves as a centerpiece for the home’s holiday décor, welcoming guests and visitors alike with its festive presence.

Stockings also play a central role in the seasonal display, with individual stockings hung for each member of the Braun family at the private residence entrance. The arrangement reflects both a classic holiday tradition and the family’s personal connection to the season. Adding another layer of personal charm, the First Lady created a scrapbook featuring the family’s Christmas cards from years past, giving visitors a peek into cherished memories and longstanding holiday practices.

The decorations themselves were thoughtfully assembled using items already on hand, along with personal pieces from the First Lady’s own collection and donations from local sources. Importantly, officials confirmed that the holiday display came at no cost to taxpayers, underscoring a focus on creativity and resourcefulness.

“Christmas is a time to reflect, celebrate faith and family, and appreciate meaningful traditions,” said First Lady Maureen Braun. “I wanted the Residence to feel warm and familiar, while being mindful of using what we already have.” Her statement reflects the broader approach to the holiday design, blending elegance and intimacy without extravagance.

Visitors and residents have appreciated the accessible nature of the display, which highlights both the historic charm of the Governor’s Residence and the Braun family’s approach to celebrating the season. The personal touches, from the family scrapbook to the individually hung stockings, make the display feel less like a formal showcase and more like a home celebrating the holidays.
