FHLBank Indianapolis invites nominations to fill open seat on its Affordable Housing Advisory Council

Indianapolis, Indiana – The Federal Home Loan Bank of Indianapolis is inviting community leaders and housing professionals to step forward as it opens nominations for an important advisory role tied to affordable housing efforts across the region. The bank announced that it is seeking candidates to serve on its Affordable Housing Advisory Council, a group that plays a key role in shaping housing-related programs and priorities throughout Indiana and Michigan.

The Affordable Housing Advisory Council, commonly known as the AHAC, provides guidance to FHLBank Indianapolis on housing initiatives and emerging needs within the bank’s district. Council members offer insight from their professional experience and local knowledge, helping ensure that housing programs remain responsive to the realities facing communities, families, and organizations working in the affordable housing space.

Nominations are now open to fill an immediate vacancy for one Indiana-based council member. Individuals interested in being considered for that seat must submit their nominations by January 31, 2026. In addition, the bank is also accepting nominations through July 31, 2026, to prepare for upcoming vacancies as current members reach the end of their terms. Those future openings include three seats representing Indiana and one seat representing Michigan.

FHLBank Indianapolis serves as a regional cooperative that supports housing finance and community investment. Through the AHAC, the bank gains valuable perspectives on issues such as housing access, affordability challenges, and opportunities to strengthen local housing systems. Council members help inform decisions that can influence funding priorities and program design across the district.

The nomination process is open to individuals with relevant experience in housing, community development, finance, or related fields. While the council does not make final funding decisions, its recommendations help guide the bank’s approach to affordable housing initiatives, making participation both influential and impactful.

FHLBank Indianapolis encourages interested parties to review the full announcement and consider whether they, or someone they know, would be a strong fit for the council. Questions about the nomination process or council responsibilities can be directed to the bank’s Corporate Communications department at [email protected].
