Two $50,000 winning Powerball tickets bring unexpected good fortune to Indiana players

Indianapolis, Indiana – Indiana’s luck in the Powerball® game continued this week, bringing two Hoosier players a welcome surprise just as the jackpot soared to one of the highest levels in the game’s history. With Saturday’s prize reaching an estimated $1 billion and ranking as the seventh largest jackpot ever, excitement is steadily building across the state.

Amid the rising anticipation, the Hoosier Lottery confirmed that two winning tickets worth $50,000 each were sold for Wednesday night’s drawing—one through the standard Powerball draw and the other as part of the Double Play® feature. Lottery officials urged all players to take a close look at their tickets, noting that many winners don’t realize they’ve won until days later.

The first $50,000 winning ticket was purchased in Fort Wayne at the United Marathon located at 2001 Brooklyn Ave. It matched enough of the numbers from the Dec. 10 drawing to secure the hefty prize. The winning numbers for that draw were 10-16-29-33-69, with the Powerball number 22.

Not far behind, another winner emerged from Cayuga, where a Powerball Double Play ticket worth $50,000 was sold at Casey’s #1912, 201 E. Ferry St. The Double Play drawing—an additional chance players can opt into—produced winning numbers of 13-15-51-67-68, with a Powerball of 8.

For anyone holding one of these lucky tickets, lottery officials recommend taking simple but important steps. Winners should place their ticket somewhere safe and consider speaking with a financial advisor before claiming their prize. They can contact Hoosier Lottery customer service at 1-800-955-6886 for instructions on how to claim their winnings. Players can also use the free Hoosier Lottery mobile app to check their numbers.

These wins add to a long history of Powerball success in Indiana. Since Powerball began in 1992, the game has not only created countless winners but also funded more than $25 billion in good causes supported by lotteries nationwide. Indiana holds a special place in Powerball history: the state had the very first jackpot winner in 1992 and still leads the country in jackpot victories with 39 total.

With Saturday’s drawing set at a staggering $1 billion, many Hoosiers are expected to try their luck again, hoping to join the list of major winners. Whether or not the jackpot lands in Indiana this weekend, the recent $50,000 prizes serve as a reminder that winning doesn’t always require hitting the biggest possible payout—sometimes matching just a handful of numbers can deliver a life-changing moment.
