Highland community celebrates after a local store sells a $50,000 Powerball winning ticket

Indiana – Someone in Highland may be holding a ticket worth a sizable prize after Saturday night’s Powerball drawing. According to the Hoosier Lottery, a single entry purchased in Lake County matched four of the five main numbers and also hit the Powerball, securing a $50,000 win.

The lucky ticket was purchased at Ridgeway Citgo, located at 2735 Main Street in Highland. Lottery officials are urging anyone who bought a Powerball ticket at that location to check it closely, as the prize remains unclaimed. The winning numbers drawn on Saturday, December 6, were 13, 14, 26, 28, 44, with the Powerball number 7.

Players can double-check their entries using the free Hoosier Lottery app, which provides quick number verification and updates about recent drawings. Officials also remind the winner to take precautions before claiming their prize. They advise keeping the ticket somewhere safe, consulting with a financial professional, and contacting Hoosier Lottery customer service at 1-800-955-6886 for detailed instructions on how to claim the money.

Powerball has been a major part of American lottery history since its debut in 1992, offering players across the country the chance to win life-changing amounts while generating funds for public programs. Over the decades, the game has raised more than $25 billion for good causes supported by state lotteries nationwide. Indiana remains one of the standout Powerball states, producing the game’s first-ever jackpot winner in 1992 and leading the country with 39 jackpot wins to date.

With excitement already building from Saturday’s win, attention is now shifting to the next Powerball drawing. The jackpot for Monday, December 8, has climbed to an estimated $875 million, continuing a streak of large prize pools that have drawn heavy ticket sales across the country.

For the Highland ticket holder, however, the focus is much simpler: keeping their winning slip safe and stepping forward before the deadline. A $50,000 prize may not make headlines on the national lottery stage, but for one local player, it could mark a life-changing moment.
