Indianapolis, Indiana – The University of Indianapolis community once again demonstrated its generosity this GivingTuesday, contributing more than $150,000 to support students and a wide range of campus initiatives. The annual global day of giving inspired Greyhounds, alumni, faculty, staff, and friends of the university to come together and make a tangible difference for students.
As part of a special Food Pantry match, the Office of Advancement pledged to donate one shelf-stable item for every gift received. This initiative resulted in more than 300 items being added to the UIndy Food Pantry, helping to provide essential resources for students in need. The effort highlights the university’s ongoing commitment to ensuring students have access to basic necessities as they pursue their academic goals.
This marks UIndy’s 13th year participating in GivingTuesday, a tradition that has grown steadily over the years. The celebration continued on campus with the Smith Mall Holiday Lighting event, where President Singh joined students, faculty, staff, and alumni for festive activities. As part of the event, participants also took part in a service project writing cards for local nursing home residents, spreading holiday cheer beyond the campus community.
GivingTuesday gifts go beyond festive goodwill, providing critical scholarships and essential student support, including academic guidance, wellness resources, career-preparation programs, and emergency assistance. These contributions ensure Greyhounds are equipped with the tools and resources they need to thrive academically, personally, and professionally while making meaningful contributions to their communities.
