Mozel Sanders Foundation joins forces with Ivy Tech Community College Fishbeck and Kroger to provide 10,000 Thanksgiving meals to families in Central Indiana

Indianapolis, Indiana – The Mozel Sanders Foundation is continuing its long-standing tradition of community service by partnering with Ivy Tech Community College – Indianapolis, Fishbeck, and Kroger to provide 10,000 Thanksgiving meals to families across Central Indiana. This ambitious initiative reflects decades of dedication to ensuring that every family in the area has the opportunity to enjoy a holiday meal.

The distribution efforts will take place during Thanksgiving Week at Ivy Tech Community College’s Conference Center & Culinary Institute, located at 2820 N. Meridian Street in Indianapolis. Volunteers and staff will work together to prepare and deliver meals in time for Thanksgiving Day, helping thousands of families celebrate the holiday with a complete, home-style meal.

“For more than four decades, the Mozel Sanders Foundation has stood as a symbol of service, compassion, and community in Indianapolis,” said Michael Futch, volunteer coordinator for the Thanksgiving drive. “This year’s collaboration with Fishbeck, Kroger, and Ivy Tech Community College strengthens our outreach and allows us to serve more families than ever before.” Futch emphasized that partnerships with local institutions and businesses are crucial to the success of the large-scale distribution, allowing the organization to reach more households and maximize its impact.

The Mozel Sanders Foundation, founded by the late Rev. Dr. Mozel Sanders, has earned a reputation for its commitment to uplifting the Indianapolis community. Best known for its annual Thanksgiving meal program, the organization also provides year-round services including monthly food and supply distributions, scholarships, and youth empowerment programs. Its mission, inspired by the motto “never look down on a man unless you’re trying to pick him up,” reflects a deep commitment to helping individuals and families achieve stability and opportunity.

This year’s Thanksgiving meal initiative benefits from the combined expertise and resources of Ivy Tech, Fishbeck, and Kroger. Ivy Tech Community College – Indianapolis serves as the Title & Facility Sponsor, offering its facilities for meal preparation and distribution. Kroger provides critical food supplies, while Fishbeck contributes logistical and operational support to ensure that each of the 10,000 meals is carefully packed and delivered.

Ivy Tech Community College, Indiana’s largest public postsecondary institution, plays an essential role in supporting workforce development and community engagement throughout the state. The College serves thousands of students annually, both on-campus and online, offering associate degrees, certificate programs, and industry certifications designed to meet local workforce needs.
