Bloomington, Indiana – Newsweek, in partnership with global data firm Statista, has released its annual America’s Best Nursing Homes 2026 ranking, highlighting the facilities that stand out for quality care across the nation. This year’s list names 1,200 nursing homes, offering families and caregivers a closer look at institutions committed to excellence.
The evaluation process considered four main areas: performance data, peer recommendations, accreditations, and resident satisfaction. In 2026, performance data carried more weight than in past years, reflecting the industry’s growing focus on clinical quality measures. For the first time, vaccination rates were also included in the criteria, an addition that underscores how infection prevention and preparedness have become essential parts of healthcare standards.
The ranking was further expanded to cover 33 states, divided into three size categories. This adjustment not only broadened the scope of recognition but also acknowledged the unique challenges and strengths of facilities of different capacities. Overall, the expansion allowed more institutions to be recognized for their contributions to resident well-being and care.
Among the top performers this year was Stonecroft Health Campus in Indiana, which earned a place in the top 20 within the 50–99 bed category. This recognition reflects both strong clinical performance and positive feedback from residents, as well as a culture of care that meets the high standards laid out in the evaluation.
Organizers of the ranking note that the goal of America’s Best Nursing Homes is to help individuals and families make more informed decisions when considering long-term care options. With the aging population in the United States continuing to grow, the emphasis on transparency, quality, and accountability in nursing homes has never been more important.
The 2026 ranking serves not only as recognition for outstanding facilities but also as a benchmark for the industry. By raising expectations and highlighting examples of excellence, Newsweek and Statista hope to encourage ongoing improvements in care, safety, and resident satisfaction nationwide.
