MCCSC School Board President April Hennessey selected to represent the district at the Indiana School Boards Association delegate assembly

Bloomington, Indiana – April Hennessey, President of the Monroe County Community School Corporation (MCCSC) Board of School Trustees, recently represented the district on the state stage. She served as the corporation’s voting delegate at the 2025 Delegate Assembly of the Indiana School Boards Association (ISBA), held September 15 at the Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis.

The annual assembly brings together representatives from across the state to shape the direction of the organization and establish goals for the coming year. Each of Indiana’s 290 public school corporations, all of which are ISBA members, is invited to send one school board member as a delegate. The group votes on organizational priorities, policies, and leadership roles that affect school boards statewide.

At this year’s meeting, delegates approved several significant measures. These included the Association’s budget for 2026, a set of Foundational Statements, and the Legislative Priorities for the upcoming year. Delegates also confirmed a new slate of officers and directors for the ISBA Board of Directors.

ISBA Executive Director Terry Spradlin praised the efforts of delegates like Hennessey who committed their time to attend and vote on behalf of their school districts. “The school board members who served as delegates this year are to be commended for their dedication and service,” Spradlin said. “Their decisions help support all school board members and ensure that their membership association continues to thrive.”

For Hennessey and other delegates, the assembly is more than just an annual meeting—it is an opportunity to help guide policies that will have an impact on public education across the state. Legislative Priorities established at the gathering provide direction for ISBA’s advocacy during the next session of the Indiana General Assembly, with a focus on issues such as funding, governance, and student achievement.
