Monroe County, Indiana – Indiana health officials have reported 801 new and confirmed cases of Covid-19, as well as 22 fatalities.

According to the Indiana State Department of Health, the state has recorded almost 738,961 confirmed Covid-19 infections and 13,130 fatalities since the beginning of the pandemic.

The 7-day all-test positivity rate was 4.9% Friday, and 788 Hoosiers were in the hospital.

In Monroe County, health officials said 38 residents were hospitalized due to the virus, up from 36 on Thursday.

The health department also reported 9 new positive cases but no new deaths. The latest cases brought the total number of cases to 12,002. The county death toll is 172.

The 7-day all-test positivity rate for Monroe County was 3.4% up from 1.4% a week ago.

At the same time, nearly 2.4 million people in Indiana have been fully vaccinated, including 21,835 since Thursday. That rate is down significantly since it peaked in April at more than 63,000 new vaccinations a day.

All residents age 12 and older are eligible for the shots. The Pfizer vaccine is the only vaccine anyone under age 18 can receive.
